I recently wrote about spending and saving money, that made me think of a man I met at work and how he used to handle expenses.
You think of yourself as a person that is frugal with money and doesn’t spend a lot? Compared to Gunther we are all waster.
Here are the tricks and life hacks of Gunther you can steal.
- Gunther was so frugal, he went outside with a soap when it was raining to wash himself. The best part: He was proud of it.
- He was so frugal he dismantled his steel oven every year and hid it just to avoid the yearly tax.
- If there was something in discount, he bought large quantities. He bought 1000x lighters once. Now he has lighters for life!
- He bought working shoes for €10 even though they were falling apart, he wore them till the end, just to prove he was right.
One day I forgot to bring my coffee to work. Because it was early in the morning, and I needed to wake up, I asked Gunther for a bit of his coffee. I never gave back some coffee before, but with this one I did. It tasted like water, later on I found out why, he let water run through his coffee two or three times. We don’t want to be too wasteful, right?
Even though this might sound horrible, he just worked one day in the week and was buying stocks and had money piled up.
