Nine month have passed, and I am in a similar cycle again. My platforms of choice this time. (Reddit, Medium, YouTube). Last week, I consumed this social networks 3–5 hours daily. My concentration and my wellbeing started to suffer.
Today, fed up and inspired by the Text of Marc Ritter “Information Addiction”, I stood up from the couch with a genius idea. “I am going to consume less of these platforms!”
So here I am again Social Media Time Wasters. I am ready to fight back. This time I am aiming at 60 days.
The rule is going to be no social media before 6pm. No YouTube, no checking of stocks and cryptos and no news-sites.
After the first challenge from 2021, I was doing pretty good for several months with social media consumption. I had the rule, no consuming before 6pm. It was going great, till the scrolling started to show up earlier and earlier in my days. It creeped back in my schedule till it was as bad as nine months ago.
This time I am going to journal again, just to read my thoughts after a year. If you like, you are invited to follow me along and see me suffering and maybe failing. After two month there will be a conclusion for this challenge.
Luckily it is 10pm now, and I can enjoy some Reddit scrolling. But tomorrow March 5, 2022, the game is on guys. The game is on!
