Learning to Program

Update on what I am doing.

I made the decision to give myself up to one year to learn programming. Here I am giving you a quick update how it is going and what I am doing.

At the moment, I am in my 10th month of learning how to code. I started with Python. Why Python?

My cousin said I should try to code and Python would be a good choice. That’s what I did.

How much do I code? I try to go minimum 2 hours per day, but I find myself doing more very often. There is a lot of staring at the screen in disbelieve in between.

What did I accomplish? I still feel like dabbling with the basics a lot, although I try to get my feet wet with more advanced concepts like debugging and some basic sorting algorithms. Coming up with the logic myself is still very hard to me, sometimes it works out, and I feel like a genius more frequently it doesn’t, and I have to cry in my Garbage can again. Along the way, I picked up the basic functions of Git. All I use is Commit and Push and my favorite feature Rollback!

I would like to pick up the Django Framework, trying web-development. I started with Dr. Chuck’s Course “Django for Everybody” on YouTube. But damn, this is something completely new again. Maybe some experienced programmer will read this and can give me some tips for good Django resources and how to approach learning this framework.

That’s it for the update, thanks for reading.
