Normal little overuse of alcohol.

Hello friends, the summer is still on here in Germany and even without alcohol I try to enjoy myself a little.

On this particular day I decided to ride to the garden of a friend by bike. Unfortunately, the tire of my bike was flat, so I had to take the bike of my girlfriend.

The bicycle saddle is way too low for my height, and my knees were almost touching the steering wheel.

Still, with my beard and this old bike, I felt like a cool hipster. What could possibly go wrong on this day.

But all of a sudden something was not right. I saw somebody lying in the middle of the bicycle path. I saw a man on the ground, his bike was lying right next to him. There were already people standing around him. I had to stop, because I needed to fuel my sensational greed.

We asked the man to stand up, he managed to get on his feet. He didn’t forget to put his screwdriver bits back in his pocket. The fact that he thought about this in his condition impressed me. That is how low the expectations get when we get blackout drunk.

He was very young in comparison to me, I would guess around 25. His clothes showed that he is working on the construction site. His eyes were completely red, and he talked like a broken VHS cassette from the 90s. He kept repeating, everything is fine, everything is fine.

I wanted to say to him, “Everything is fine? You are sleeping on the bicycle path in the middle of the day. You could have smashed your head to some serious injuries.”

Some memories came back in my mind, I used to work in construction too, there was some heavy drinking going on. Especially on Fridays. I thought about situations where I was blackout in public or didn’t know how I came home. It was also a good reminder to stay sober.

This story has no real point besides of. Overworking and trying to numb the pain with alcohol sucks!
