Is it possible to stop drinking in your 20s? That is a question that I thought about quite often.

I think for me and in the time I grew up, it was almost impossible.

All the weekend fun and nightlife evolved around alcohol. There was no way I would go to a party or even to a sit in without the 6-pack of beer.

There were moments of questioning my alcohol consumption, but only in trying to cut back the booze or other moderation techniques. Like all problem drinkers know, that ideas and tactics are often very short-lived.

I didn’t even have the knowledge about the toxicity and habituation effects of alcohol. The answer is clear, it was not possible for me to quit in my 20s.

But maybe kids are smarter these days. There is a lot of great content on the internet about sobriety and quitting. Is alcohol even a thing nowadays among the youngsters?

According to a study, alcohol consumption of young people in Germany is at the lowest level since recording. Some things are changing for the better.

If you are in your 20s and managed to quit like a boss, I have a lot of respect for you, and if your uncle or another strange adult tries to force a drink on you, just show him the middle finger.
