Everything Changes
Once again a friend of mine came to visit me. Finally some free-time, finally a come together. Usually, I would prepare with a healthy amount of beer in my refrigerator. Normally, when we met, we got hammered ! We would not waste any time, opening beer can after beer can. The most important thing was, that we have enough beer. If I had a can in my hand that was half-full and there were 3 left. It was time to get active and go out. The beer was leading the mood, the conversation and the activity. On the first day of our reunion there was a possibility that we would do some kind of activity. More often, we just stayed in one room with loud music on and consumed our beer. Everything is more fun with alcohol, until it is not !
Since he knows that I am writing about sobriety he asked me to share one of his recent adventures with the booze and show the result of it.
The story starts with: He had way to much alcohol. He was roaming around in the middle of the night and wanted to get home. It seemed like a good Idea to take a short cut to his house. All he needed to do was climb over a fence. It was not an easy fence to climb. Nevertheless, he felt brave and agile enough to take on this inevitable challenge. Unfortunately he overestimated his abilities and got stuck with his finger. This is the result :
They do not show stuff like that in the beer advertisement. I only see highly happy and successful people on there.
As you can imagine he is also fed up with alcohol and the consequences.
This time we had to find different activities while staying sober. He brought his bicycle, we drove through the nature and stayed outside a lot. A huge line of fresh air in my nose was enough to get high this time. We discovered a lot of new places in my surrounding, ate good food and that’s it. What more do you need ?
Even though it is forbidden, I felt like a kid from time to time just enjoying staying outside. Discovering all this new places feels like bursting out of a bubble.
The unimaginable got real. It is possible to experience fun and action without… “What was the name again? “ Ahh, yes “alcohol”.
