Is Alcohol Your Mate ?
Recently, a friend of mine told me he injured himself while being drunk. He was riding a bike and fell on a bridge railing with his head. Another friend also fell from a bike and injured his knee. That brought up the question :
What are we allowing alcohol to do to us ?
Let us assume alcohol was a friend of yours. You decide to meet and have a talk and ride around with the bike. All of a sudden, this “friend” would push you so hard that you fall and injure yourself. He wouldn’t even apologize, he would just vanish and let you alone with your accident.
How would you treat this friend after something like this ? You would tell him to go to hell and never call you again right ? With alcohol, it is different, we give this friend a second and a third chance.
Let us assume you are going out with this friend again. He just starts to feed you poison and when you had enough and vomit, he will turn his back on you and fade away. But this is not enough, on the next day when you try to regenerate from this poison, he will stand at your bed and tell you how worthless and stupid you are to fall for his tricks. How would you handle such a friendship ? You would shout at him and if he did not understand you would even try to give him a punch right ? Such a behavior is just not acceptable.
What do we allow this false friend to do to us ? Is it because we think this is actually our own fault ? Maybe we should drink less or control ourselves better ?
Next time something minor or major happens to you because of alcohol. Just blame it all on this sneaky piece of shit. Ask yourself what this relationship really has to offer ? I am not allowing this stinky liar back in my life, and it feels great !!
