Normally I wanted to avoid this phrase, but TIME PASSES BY FAST! I opened an IDE made some courses and one year is gone.

Where did I learn?

I used YouTube and Udemy mostly, also Python related sites and blogs. I felt victim jumping around from resource to resource too much.

I also had one month in between where I tried out some other coding languages.

In retrospect, these were too many resources, and it would be better to stick to one and follow through.

What would I do differently?

I would stick to the fundamentals as long as needed to be fluent in them. A lot of people talk about doing projects fast. I would avoid that in the beginning and repeat the fundamentals a lot.
Doing fancy projects feels good, but it is counterproductive when you just copy the code without understanding the whole concept and what is going on line by line.

Still no need to always go perfect, I think it is enough to keep going.

What are the next goals?

Repeating the fundamentals and trying to build a portfolio site in the midterm. I dabbled around with Django, but so far we didn’t get along very well. I will give it another try tho.

Could I get a job?

I don’t know, I never worked in that field. But to be honest, I don’t feel like a strong enough programmer yet. I think when a portfolio site is ready, and I have something to show for, I will give it a try.

My favorite learning resource so far for beginners.

Book: Head First Python.

(It has some really nice pictures and explanations in it)

Course: Mastering 4 critical SKILLS using Python on Udemy.

This is a great fundamentals course, because it teaches to think about the solutions on paper.

For advanced topics, I like Real Python.

That’s it, let’s see how far I will be in the next year.
