How I Crashed a Car

Unpleasant memories from the past.

When I was writing this, a lot of horrible recollections came back in my mind. One stuck with me especially. Here is the story how I had a drunken car crash.

I was very young, so young that discotheques and meeting at bars were still a thing. It was Christmas Eve, after family time we used to gather at a bar to get wildly drunk and do whatever.

This time was no different, I got intoxicated to the fullest and found myself in front of the bar at around 3am. The bar was closed and on the streets there were only night-life zombies left, searching for their mobiles and their souls. I was one of them!

At this point, I had a very terrible idea. If I could travel back in time, I would wipe this young idiot with a belt, because this was just to stupid.

Instead of going home, I decided it was time to go to a disco and get more drunk. It was always more, more, more. I took out my phone and called a girl which I used to meet there. Unfortunately, I was so hammered that I did not even understand that she wasn’t there, and she was already sleeping.

That all wasn’t enough to stop me, I still decided it was necessary to drive to that club in that condition.

I did get in my car and started to drive. It was a 15,5miles ride. I don’t remember how I got out of the city. But I remember being on the country road which was the biggest part of the route. In the middle of the ride I decided to switch the track on my Pioneer car radio which had a blue display. To turn on another track, I bend forward and looked at the radio for too long. Luckily, my foot was from the gas at this point, and I wasn’t driving extremely fast, approximately 31–43mp/h. After putting on one of my favorite songs, I looked up on the road again.

I realized that I totally deviated from the road and was directed frontal towards a tree. At this point adrenalin took over, I was sober in an instant and the beloved song was just background noise. I yanked the steering wheel to the left, I can’t remember if I started to put my foot on the break simultaneously. All I wanted in that moment was to change the course as fast as possible. Somehow, I managed to not collide with the tree frontal but with the side of my car.

I got out of the car, I was still so drunk that I somehow convinced myself that it was a frontal crash. After looking at the front of the car and realizing that nothing broke there, I felt safe to continue my way.

Getting to the parking lot of that club, it was just completely empty. Nobody was there, and the club was closed. I drove back home, which I don’t remember at all.

Waking up on the next morning with a huge hangover and looking out of my window, I realized my whole right car door was strongly damaged.

Luckily, nobody was injured with that ride. That was one of the most stupid decisions in my life, guys, I would love to put the whole blame on alcohol, but it is not possible completely. I don’t want to imagine the feelings of guilt and regret when something even worse happens because of one dumb decision.

I try to make up for the stupid things I did, and leave something better in this world, I promise.
